BizBooksPlus
Privacy Policies
It's
a fact every company should know. Nothing is more
detrimental to doing business online than the worry that your personal
information may not be safe. Rest assured that BizBooksPlus is aware of
your concerns, and we are doing everything in our power to protect you
from identity theft.
What information
we gather
BizBooksPlus only gathers enough personal information to service your
research and ordering needs. If you don't ask us to help you (see the
form at Help Ordering which is the only place on the site where we
collect personal information), we don't gather any personal information.
If you ask us for help, we gather only the information you send us,
which includes name, e-mail address, phone numbers, and — only if you
ask us to order for you — credit card information.
The service that
hosts our web site (Host$ave) only collects aggregate information that
shows site trends but never collects personal information on our behalf.
How we store it
Except for your e-mail address, we only store the information you
provide us on a CD, which is kept in our office files. It is only stored
on a server, in a secure environment, until we can move it to the CD,
which we do each day. We store your e-mail address in our company e-mail
address book to make it easier to contact you.
Information we store
on the CD and e-mail address book is deleted 6 months after your last
transaction with us.
Who has access
Your personal information is available only to an employee of
BizBooksPlus for servicing your research and ordering needs. Anyone
wishing to use that information must retrieve the CD from the president
of our company.
What we do with
your information
We use your personal information only to help you find or order a book,
magazine, or audio book.
How we protect
your information
Your personal information is saved for 6 months on a CD, which is locked
in our vault until it is needed to service a search or order. E-mail
address is stored in the company e-mail address book for 6 months after
your last transaction.
What we do not do
with your information
BizBooksPlus will never sell or share your personal information with
third parties without first getting your permission. We will only share
it with associated parties to service your research request or product
(book, magazine, audio book) order. Our associated parties are the
companies we provide links to within the various shopping portions of
our site, such as Amazon.com, Mrs. Field's Cookies, etc.
Access to your
information
You do not have direct access to your personal information because we do
not store it on servers or hard drives. However, you may request us to
send you your personal information and you may request via e-mail or
postal mail to change your personal information. Include the password
you selected when you first entered your information. If you do not
remember your password,

Other sites have
separate policies
Note: Once you go to one of the other online store sites, our privacy
policies no longer apply. You should locate and read each store's
privacy statement to ensure you know what they do with your personal
information. Look for links to their privacy statements on their home
pages and on pages where they collect information.

I am an experienced privacy
officer and, in fact, offer privacy consulting services to West
Michigan companies. As a privacy officer, I know the laws and
regulations that govern business on the Internet. I believe
fully in your right to protect your personal information and am
dedicated to protecting your privacy rights to the fullest
extent of the law. Some
things are out of our control, however. For instance, when you
take the links from our web site to the sites of other
companies, you leave the protection of our privacy policies and
enter the protection of their privacy policies. Because these
companies are not owned or operated by us, we cannot and do not
control how they do business. You should become aware of their
privacy policies and do business with them only if you are
comfortable with their policies. If you are unsure of their
policies or where to find their statements, contact them for
more information.
In general, you should question
doing business with a company that does not post a privacy
statement on their web site. They may very well be honest
companies that protect your personal information, but you cannot
know that without access to a statement that explains their
policies. If you do not find such a statement, you should
contact them and ask for one.
One way of gaining confidence
in an online shopping site is to look for a privacy seal that
ensures that the site lives up to the highest standards. One
such seal is the Truste mark. Companies must be in business a
full year and apply for use of the Truste seal, which requires
that the business live up to the standards of the Truste
organization. Each applicant business must go through a rigorous
audit of their site and their privacy policies before they can
display the Truste seal. The process can be lengthy and costly,
so that while a site not displaying such a seal is not an
indictment against that business for its privacy policies,
seeing such a seal on a site should give you confidence in that
business's privacy practices.
BizBooksPlus has not been
online for a year, so we cannot yet apply for the Truste seal.
However, when that day comes, we will look into the cost and
effort of earning the seal.
Another seal of quality to look
for is that of the BBB (Better Business Bureau). That
organization, too, requires that a company be in business for at
least a year and be invited to join. Our main company,
e-Messenger Consulting Corp., is a member of the BBB of West
Michigan. We anticipate joining the BBB reliability program for
BizBooksPlus to display that seal of quality when it becomes
possible.
If you have any questions about
our privacy policies or privacy issues in general, please feel
welcome to contact me directly. I will be happy to discuss any
of it with you.
Sincerely,
Alan Eggleston, president
e-Messenger Consulting Corp. and
BizBooksPlus
